Ardeen is a luxury villa situated right on the beach in Kahandamodara beach, Ranna, on the southern coast of Sri Lanka. The villa has three large, air-conditioned bedrooms, two with sea view and one family suite for 2 adults and 2 kids. The whole villa can accommodate up to 8 persons -ideally 6 adults and 2 children. I Each bedroom is light filled, high ceilinged and spacious with attached bathroom. The family room has a bathtub in addition to a separate shower cubicle. The rooms are over 40 sqm each with a large private ensuite, The grill from the double rooms and lounge allows for a spectacular view of the sea with a comforting cool breeze flowing throughout the villa. The spacious back garden with private swimming pool is set on an acre of waterfront land The two sea view rooms each has a private undercover patio leading to the beach and pool. The entrance to the villa is via the private wide driveway dotted with bougainvillea and frangipani where peacocks and wild fowl nest. The villa has a modern fully equipped kitchen and our chef can prepare tasty Sri Lankan as well as western meals. The rate includes breakfast, with lunch and dinner priced at USD 8 12 per person per meal. The menu also caters for kids. On a full moon night, one may see turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs and a variety of birds dot the landscape. We do not sell beer or spirits but guests are welcome to bring their own stocks of spirits and wine for which there is no charge. The pristine beach with its wide shore is ideal for walking and for kids to run around catching sand crabs, exploring the beauty of nature. At dawn and dusk one can join the fishermen in drawing their nets with the day's catch,. A paradise for anglers to cast a line or practise the art of netting prawns in the lagoon nearby. Golf lovers can visit the Shangri la International Golf Resort which is just a 20 minute drive from the villa.

Transport:

• Free pick up from the International Airport or hotel in Colombo is available in an air conditioned van for stays of 7 days for guests travelling together. For stays lesser than 7 days pickup from airport or Colombo is available at rates to be agreed. For stays of 14 days free pick up and drop off is provided for group travelling together.

Sightseeing

• The largest wild life reserves, Yala and Uda Walawe are a half day trip from Ardeen. The game reserves are famous for elephant. leopard. bear, deer and wild boar. Picnic lunch arranged.
• The UNESCO declared Heritage City of Galle Fort is approximately a 50 minute drive.
• A day trip to the hill country town of Ella Ella is a day trip. Ella is famous for its bio diversity of fauna and flora, tea plantations and rolling mountains and winding railway line
• Kalametiya Bird Sanctuary is approximately a 10 minute drive.
• A day trip to the Bundala Bird Sanctuary is a 60 minute drive.
• Dolphin and whale watching at Mirissa and Dikwella is a 35 minute drive.
• Surf beach at Kudawella is a 25 minute drive. Hiriketiya bay is a 25 minute drive, ideal for surfing and swimming all through the year. Many other bays ideal for swimming and bathing are found in the neighbourhood. Ardeen beach is best for swimming from November though March, and other months on calm days.
• The blow hole is a 30-minute drive.
• A boat ride at dusk on the lagoon 400 metres away can be arranged where several species of bird life can be seen in large numbers.
• You can watch the fishermen draw their nets with their days catch or sit by the lagoon enjoying the sunset and learning the art of prawn fishing. Angling on the beach can also be done.
• The 18 hole golf course is a twenty minute drive to the Shangri La International Golf Resort.
• Explore and relax outside the villa on the beautiful pristine stretch of beach sipping a cocktail, gazing at the turquoise waters and amazing sunsets.
• Swim with the turtles in Dickwella or Unawatune beach.
• You can sight turtles laying their eggs at night on the Rekawa beach 3 kilometers away.

Road directions: From Colombo or BIA driving on the Southern Expressway, exit the Kasagala Interchange, on entry to Ranna town turn left on the Matara -Hambantota Road, drive 1 km past the town and turn right into Kahandamodara Road, take the Y fork right at 3.3 kms, follow this road for about 1 km veering left and 300 metres on the right you will see the sign Ardeen Villa, 104/A.
